What is the SMU IGP?
The Indicative Grade Profile shows the grades of students offered a place in each SMU course: the A-Level grades (3 H2 and 1 H1 subjects) and the polytechnic GPA of the 10th and 90th percentile. This edition covers offers made in the 2025 University Admissions Exercise, published on 9 January 2026.
What polytechnic GPA do I need for SMU?
It depends on the course. The 10th percentile GPA, which 90% of polytechnic students offered a place reached, ran from 3.61 (Bachelor of Science (Information Systems)) to 3.80 (Bachelor of Science (Computer Science)). 1 courses admitted too few polytechnic students to publish a figure.
What does AAA/A mean in the IGP?
The three letters before the slash are the grades of the three H2 subjects and the letter after it is the H1 subject. SMU counts content-based subjects. AAA/A at the 10th percentile means 90% of those offered a place had straight As.
Does meeting the IGP guarantee a place?
No. The profile describes last year's offers, and courses can change from year to year with the number and results of applicants. Courses marked "interview or test" also assess you outside your grades.
How does the new UAS affect the IGP?
From AY2026/2027, applicants with 2025 A-Level results no longer have the H1 content subject counted in the University Admission Score by default. The universities suggest looking at the 3 H2 grades in the profile as a guide.
