About Waterloo Grading
The University of Waterloo's letter-grade table only covers Waterloo courses taken before fall 2001 and Wilfrid Laurier courses; current Waterloo grades are numeric. The Science office's example: five 0.50-unit courses graded 85, 78, 91, 74 and 68 plus a 0.25-unit lab graded 75 give an average of 78.82.

Waterloo Grading Note
Waterloo grades every course from 0 to 100 and reports averages as percentages; it has no GPA scale. 50% is a pass, and any grade from 0 to 32 counts as 32 when averages for promotion and awards are calculated.
Waterloo Accuracy Scope
Averages are weighted by unit weights; most one-term courses are 0.50. Quest labels them "Term GPA" and "Cumulative GPA", but they are percentages. In Arts both attempts of a repeated course count, and transfer grades are not included. DNW, FTC, NMR and WF count as 32; CR and NCR are left out.
Tips for Waterloo Students
- Enter unit weights, not credits: a normal one-term course is 0.50 and a lab can be 0.25.
- A mark below 32 counts as 32 in averages, so a very low grade pulls your average down less than it looks.
- Engineering does not round averages: a term needs 60.000 to pass.
