About the Queen's GPA System
Queen's University computes the GPA as grade points times course units, divided by the units attempted, and keeps cumulative, plan, term and academic-year GPAs. Since January 2014 the cumulative GPA no longer appears on the official transcript.
Why GPA Matters at Queen's
In Arts and Science, good standing normally needs a cumulative GPA of 1.60, an Honours degree 1.90 and a General degree 1.60. The Dean's Honour List needs an academic-year GPA of 3.50 on at least 18.00 Queen's units with no failures, and a Degree with Distinction needs a cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Queen's Accuracy Scope
For a repeated course the highest mark counts. Pass grades, CR and transfer credits are left out, but an F in a pass/fail course counts as 0.0 and aegrotat grades are included. This page follows Arts and Science rules; other faculties can differ.
GPA Tips for Queen's Students
- Use each course's units as its weight.
- Personal Interest Credit lets you take up to 6.00 units of electives pass/fail once you have passed 24.00 units.
- The highest mark of a repeated course counts, but any repeat rules out that year's Dean's Honour List and the Degree with Distinction.
