Match standard codes to the approved subject
University Entrance through NCEA is a set of conditions, not a rank-score calculation. This checker uses the NZQA approved-subject list to test whether each entered five-digit standard belongs to the subject you selected. It groups achieved Level 3 credits by distinct approved subject, showing each subject’s gap below 14. A standard that is not in that selected subject is not counted there.
The subject list was retrieved on 6 October 2026. The linked Te Marautanga subject routes that do not publish codes in this table are outside this snapshot. Enter actual credited results and credit values from your record; this mapping checks subject membership, not the amount of credits reported by your school. A duplicate standard code is rejected even if it is entered under another subject. Mutual-exclusion decisions still require your final credited record.
Four conditions stay separate
Check NCEA Level 3 only when it is confirmed on your NZQA record. Then confirm at least five qualifying reading and five qualifying writing credits for UE literacy, using the separate literacy tool or the official list. Finally enter the credits meeting the current UE numeracy route. Having an NCEA co-requisite does not automatically prove every separate UE literacy or numeracy condition.
For example, three approved subjects with 14, 16 and 18 achieved Level 3 credits meet the subject component. A fourth subject with 13 does not create another completed subject, and its extra credits cannot be moved into a different subject. Even with three completed subjects, an unconfirmed Level 3 certificate or a missing literacy confirmation leaves the entered UE conditions incomplete.
Minimum entrance is not an offer
Use the current qualifying numeracy standards or the dedicated numeracy/te pāngarau co-requisite route described by NZQA. This tool does not assume that a historical 2023 numeracy result qualifies under every later admissions rule. Record recognition, credit inclusion and exceptional cases need confirmation with NZQA or the receiving university. The form does not import your record or submit an application.
An entered minimum UE result does not establish a programme’s rank score, required subject preparation, English-language requirement, portfolio or selection outcome. Auckland’s NCEA rank score is a different calculation and is linked below. Keep the subject gap table as a planning worksheet: it shows the shortfall in the record you entered, not a guarantee that another assessment will produce an offer.
