About the Auckland GPA System

An illustrative 15-point A course and 15-point DNC course give (8 × 15 + 0 × 15) ÷ 30 = 4.00. If the second course instead has an excluded ungraded result, omit it: the included 15-point A alone gives 8.00. A failure and an excluded course have very different effects.

Auckland Grading Note

Auckland weights each recorded grade point by the course points. D+, D−, D, DNS and DNC count as zero; their course points still enter the denominator. Ungraded P/F, W/WD and transferred CRD do not carry grade points: leave those rows out.

Auckland Accuracy Scope

Use the courses assigned to your programme for a programme GPA, or the wider record for a cumulative GPA. Faculty entry calculations can use different course sets. Conceded pass (CP), pending grades and misconduct penalties are not modeled here. Results are two-decimal planning estimates, not a transcript or external grade-point equivalent.

GPA Tips for Auckland Students

  • Enter points from your academic record, not the number of papers.
  • Do not combine courses from unrelated programmes when checking a programme-specific requirement.
