Course results and complete study periods

Example data. Include every course in each semester entered; no personal records leave your browser.

Older semesters extend only the two-year route, as whole blocks. Enter all results in a block. A one-year shortage is flagged, not silently extended.

Choose the scholarship record, not your entire transcript

This tool follows AUT’s scholarship guidance for current AUT students using results from AUT or other New Zealand universities. The normal route starts with graded courses from the two most recent study years. Enter your latest completed study year and every course in those years. The semester fields group older courses so the tool can extend an incomplete two-year record backwards without cherry-picking a few favourable results. Block 3 can represent a complete additional study block, such as summer, when that is how your record is organised; confirm its place in the scholarship course window.

For a scholarship that asks for one year only, choose the 120-point route. Only the entered most recent study year is used. The tool flags a shortage instead of borrowing older results automatically. A points minimum is not a scholarship award decision, and a high GPA does not waive the other eligibility conditions.

Why failures and exclusions are different

An included failed 15-point course adds 15 to the denominator but contributes no weighted grade points. It can therefore lower the result. A withdrawn or CoP entry contributes neither its course points nor grade points. Check the exclusion box only for those documented exclusions. Do not interpret an unfamiliar ungraded result as a fail or assign it a grade value; ask AUT how it belongs in the scholarship record.

The listed passing grades run from A+ at 9 to C− at 1. The calculation sums grade value × course points and divides by the included course points. Results display to three decimals, without using the rounded display to make a threshold decision.

A complete example and a part-time extension

The default nine-course example reproduces AUT’s published example: 240 course points and 1,800 weighted grade points produce 7.500. The two 60-point A courses contribute 960 of those weighted points; the remaining seven courses contribute 840. Changing an A course to DNC keeps its course points but changes its contribution to zero.

For a separate part-time planning example, 120 points at A and 90 points at B in the last two years total 210 points. An older complete semester containing 60 points of DNC extends the denominator to 270, not 240. The weighted total stays 1,410 and the indicative GPA becomes 5.222. Enter every course in that older semester: the calculator cannot detect an omitted paper.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this my official AUT GPA?
No. It is an indicative scholarship calculation. Use My AUT or MyEquals for your official result and the particular scholarship rules for eligibility.
Why does the total exceed 240 points?
All courses in the last two study years count, even above 240. If fewer than 240 points are available, extend backwards by complete semesters or years rather than cutting off part of a semester.
Do failed courses lower the result?
Yes. Failed grades, including DNS and DNC, retain their course points and have grade value zero. Withdrawn papers and Certificates of Proficiency are excluded.
