Final achievement-grade attempts
Example data. Use the same course code for repeat attempts. This tool selects grades; it does not award credits or calculate an official GPA.
For tied highest grades, the first row is displayed as the retained attempt. Equivalent tied grades do not change the value; confirm transcript treatment with your programme.

Highest grade, not latest grade
Use this tool before transferring a repeat-heavy record into a calculation. MIT&Unitec Student Regulations section 12.5.4 retains the highest grade for a repeated course and excludes its other grades. Enter the same official course code for each attempt. Spaces at the ends and letter case are normalised so COMP101 and comp101 group together. Distinct course codes are not assumed equivalent; a renamed or replacement course needs a programme decision.
The table marks one retained attempt for each course with a numeric grade value. For tied highest values, the first entered row is selected for display only. That convention prevents counting a course twice; it is not a claim about how the institution displays tied attempts on a transcript. If precise transcript attribution matters, ask your programme.
Zero is not the same as not used
The GPA table assigns A+ through C− values 9 through 1. D, E, F, FCW, FF, NC, DNC and CP have value zero. A zero-value attempt can be the retained grade when it is the highest available result. Withdrawal codes W and WD, aegrotat pass AP, exemption X, credit transfer CT and cross credit CC are not used in the GPA calculation.
This tool is limited to final achievement-based results. Attendance-only A or AO and competence-based grades have different meanings and are outside its scope. In particular, do not use the achievement A option to represent attendance only. It does not translate assessment-component marks into course grades.
Read the example before building your course set
The sample COMP101 attempts are B and C. B has value 5 and remains; the later-listed C has value 2 and is excluded. DES102 with CP remains as a zero-value grade. DES103 with AP is non-GPA and is omitted. The result therefore reports two courses with retained numeric grades, one excluded repeat attempt and one non-GPA entry.
Use the treatment table to audit your entries against your transcript, then confirm the required course set and credit rules with your programme. Section 12.5.1 says GPA use must be stated in the Programme Regulations. This planner deliberately does not infer a GPA denominator, earned credit total, honours award, completion status or permission to repeat a course.
