Start with the whole year, not a best-credit subset
This worksheet checks the standard numeric Bachelors conditions for a full 120-credit year at levels 4–6. Enter every module, including low and failed marks. Unlike the degree classification counting set, the progression mean uses all 120 credits. The tool does not choose the best 90 credits to improve a failed year. Final recorded marks and actual module credit sizes are needed; deferred results which have not yet been confirmed as failures should not be invented as zero.
A year with all 120 credits passed follows the standard pass route. Where credits are failed, the condonement route has several simultaneous conditions. At least 90 credits must be passed; no more than 30 credits may fall in the condonable range during this year. For the numeric Bachelors scale that range starts at 1.00 and ends at 39.99, not just 30–39.99. A zero mark is therefore a separate blocker even when the annual mean is high.
Check cumulative credits and must-pass conditions
Honours condonement must not exceed 60 credits up to and including the current year. Enter earlier condoned credits from your official record, not all historical failed credits. For example, a current 30-credit condonable module and 30 earlier condoned credits reach 60 and remain within this limit. With 45 earlier credits the total becomes 75, which fails the cumulative condition.
All non-condonable modules must pass. Mark those module rows explicitly and confirm required component passes separately: a module mean alone may conceal a failed must-pass component. Where condonement is needed, the full-year credit-weighted mean must be at least 40.00 and no module may fall below 1.00. The result lists individual blockers rather than turning a high average into an unconditional progression approval.
Condonement is not a mark increase or resit decision
The example marks 70, 55, 45 and 30, each worth 30 credits, have 90 passed credits, 30 current failed credits and a mean of 50.00. With 30 earlier condoned credits and confirmed must-pass conditions, the entered standard conditions are met. The 30 mark stays 30: condonement does not replace it with 40 for later classification.
Your Board applies condonement and authorizes progression. A module already condoned cannot simply be reassessed to raise its mark. Provisional progression, outstanding deferrals, part-time pro-rata years, integrated Masters and professional accreditation exceptions need programme-specific review. Use the component checker to investigate a required-component failure, or the resit worksheet for a first-failed record, rather than treating the progression result as permission to take either route.
